In 2005, Maple Leaf Foreign Nationals School-Dalian was granted approval by British Columbia Ministry of Education and National Ministry of Education to operate a school offering a positive and engaging all-English international learning program for children of foreign nationals ; legally residing within province children of Chinese residents of Hong Kong, Macau, or Taiwan; and children of Chinese nationals whose parents are legally residing overseas.

大连枫叶外籍人员子女学校是由国家教育部于2005年批准设立，开设加拿大不列颠哥伦比亚省全英文教学课程，招收在中国境内合法居留的外籍人员子女、可适当招收在省内合法居留的香港、澳门特别行政区和台湾地区居民以及境外依法定居的中国公民的子女，为其提供全英教学的外籍人员子女学校。

Our Alumnus 我们的校友

By 2021, Maple Leaf Foreign Nationals School-Dalian (MLFNS-D) alumnus were traveling around the world. They went to UK, US, Australia, Canada, Singapore, Korea, Japan, German, and Brazil etc. The presence of MLFNS-D alumnus is spreading at each top university in these countries and regions, as is the good reputation of MLFNS-D students from Dalian.

We are gratified to see students with different cultural and national backgrounds from MLFNS-D going around the world.

MLFNS-D have alumni scattered all over the world doing amazing things. We will look to feature some different alumnus each month to show what they are up to and the impact they are having at their new schools and the communities they live in.

Our Program 我们的课程

Our program involves English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Music, Art, Health, PE, IT, Career Planning, Mandarin etc., which covers academics, the arts and health education.

From preschool to middle school we have: small class sizes, individualized instruction, and an education that emphasizes detail. Reading ability is one of the biggest advantages of the Canadian curriculum. In the kindergarten stage, we focus on play-based learning, teaching with fun, training students' social and emotional abilities, as well as fundamental concepts such as reading and writing. Beginning in primary school, the Canadian curriculum emphasizes the development of intelligence, physical ability, social and emotional skills, and the arts. It focuses on learning thematically and often uses extracurricular books and stories to guide and inspire students, and trains students' oral expression abilities. As students’ progress, the Canadian curriculum begins to cultivate students' reading, writing, and analytical abilities, as well as an appreciation in general.

从学前教育到初中教育：小班授课，因材施教，重视细节教育。阅读能力是加拿大课程优势。幼儿园阶段注重在游戏中学习，寓教于乐，锻炼学生们的社交能力和基本概念以及如何读书。逐渐步入小学注重智力、体能、社交、艺术及情绪方面的发展，以主题式学习为主，经常会使用故事等课外图书引导启发学生，培养学生们的口语表达能力，随着年级的升高，开始培养学生们的阅读、分析、鉴赏以及写作能力等。

Maple Leaf strives to be the international bridge of education, combining the best of Western and Chinese education. In order to meet the requirements of Chinese language and culture, our school provides students with daily language learning opportunities. The “Maple Leaf Mandarin 1-9” is an independent curriculum that is based on the numerous mandarin levels of our students.

The students who have a background in Mandarin use the national mandarin curriculum. To reinforce Mandarin skills and create an immersive learning experience, students participate in a weekly Chinese culture club. The “MLFNS-D Chinese Culture Course Manual” is the book used in the club to enrich the student’s Mandarin. The manual is an in depth look into Chinese culture. Various topics such as traditional technologies, festivals, art, customs, and food are all covered in the manual. The students also learn about modern China, regional culture, and historical characters.

大连枫叶外籍人员子女学校为学生们对中文和中国文化学习的需求，秉承在大连办学，做中西教育优化结合和传播的国际教育桥梁的使者。学校每天为学生提供中文课学习，根据学生的不同汉语水平，实施分级教学，使用枫叶自主研发的《枫叶汉语1-9》级教学。针对汉语基础夯实的学生，结合使用国家课程大纲语文教材，满足学生语文学术和文学素养的培养。为更好地落实立德树人，学校每班每周开设中国文化课，并自主编著《大连枫叶外籍人员子女学校中国文化课实操手册》，涉及传统技艺篇、传统节日篇、传统艺术篇、当代中国篇、地域文化篇、历史人物篇、民风民俗篇、民间工艺篇、民族风情篇、餐饮厨艺篇、中华武术篇等，现已申请知识产权。
